I have been a Toyota Land Cruiser fanatic for as long as I can remember. The first time I saw a mustard colored 40 series back in high school, I remember thinking I had to have one.
Fast forward to 1990 when I picked up my first Toyota Land Cruiser while we were living over on Kauai. It was a 1977 FJ40 with 22,000 miles on the odometer, talk about a “barn find”.
Since then we have owned a red 1982 FJ60 Wagon named “Clifford”, a 1992 FJ80 we affectionately named “Tubbs” and more recently a 1985 Canadian BJ70 that now lives with its’ new owner in Ohio.
Our current Land Cruiser is a 1HZ powered FJ80 series which makes it a HZJ80 somewhat. HZJ80′s came from the factory with full floating axles and part time 4wd unlike our AWD version.
Hard to say which Land Cruiser I will be looking at next but I can guarantee it will be diesel powered.
